But I find that perspective sort of inhuman - and can't think of any counter-examples really of how it's possible to have macro attention to a sentence and then also to maintain a rhythm through the prose AND have connection with the characters AND have something to say. The sentence maximalists of the Anthony Doerr variety seem always to sacrifice everything else just for showing off their sentences.
