Fascinating. Seems as if the book could become a movie, given the way you describe the characters.

Love the quote about the end game to God's 1,00o year self-match.

Haha! Well, the movie option for A Century of Chess: 1900-1909 is still out there for the taking!

Really appreciate the kind words David!

Congratulations! And you absolutely should be pleased with yourself. I'll be sure to check it out! I enjoy the occasional game of chess, though I'm too poetically illogical to be all that good. :P Much more fun to read novels about chess, like Zweig's A Chess Game and Nabokov's The Luzhin Defense.

I was proud of noticing what a blood bath is on that board being a player at t periphery. You give the first permission I have heard to have fun at the game. Played my friend a game that circuited the board 3 times. That was fun.

So good. I have the books by Tarrasch, Lasker, and Nimzowitsch...and others. Used to go through them regularly. Your analysis and game examples are super on the chess.com blog. i play there on and off, but badly and usually after too many drinks.

This is a great post, the tab has stayed open so I can read more about each of this very memorable cast of characters.
